This year, Detroit Catholic Central High School will participate in its first year of competitive esports. The team will compete in Michigan High School Federation of Esports (MiHSEF). MiHSEF is a free-to-join non-profit esports league created by educators for students. The league will be divided into a fall, spring, and summer season. The fall 2020 league will be comprised of Overwatch (T), Rocket League (E), and Valorant (T). The spring 2020 league will be comprised of Fortnite (T), Super Smash Bros (E), and League of Legends (T).
• Model acceptable and productive online behavior allowing students to become conscientious digital citizens
• Promote a safe and open environment for students with similar interests to form new friendships, learn valuable interpersonal skills - overall promoting social interaction within the team and personal growth
• Use video games as a medium to teach sportsmanship qualities and values to students
• Encourage students to interact with the online world in a safe manner
